'Hawkeye and The Last of the Mohicans' (1957)
This Canadian produced Western series was set in pre-Revolutionary USA and Canada and starred John Hart (left) as James Fenimore Cooper's hero Nat Cutler, known familiarly as Hawkeye, with Lon Chaney Jr. (right) as Chingachgook.
His adventures in the northern frontierland, and encounters with the Huron Indians during the 1750's, were shared by his redskin blood brother, Chingachgook, 'The Last of the Mohicans'. 39 Half hour episodes were made. Star John Hart had previously had brief TV fame when temporarily taking over the role of The Lone Ranger from Clayton Moore.
