'Hopalong Cassidy' (1955-6) Starred William Boyd as Hopalong The character of Hopalong Cassidy was created by Clarence E. Mulford around the turn of the century. However, that was a very different Hopalong from the one we knew in the '50s. Actor William Boyd turned him into a faultless hero, an idol for the children, immaculately dressed in black to contrast dramatically with his silver hair, silver spurs and pearl handled revolvers, and his white steed, Topper.
