| May I add a few
comments? In A Life of Bliss, David's full name was given: David Alexander Bliss. His long-suffering girl friend - akin to Eth. in Take it from Here - was Zo"e. My recollection of The Barlowes of Beddington is that the couple moved to Beddington from their previous position (not Headmaster and wife) at a school called Stormont. I believe that Beddington was an established school, at which they sought to make their mark. The signature-tune was in my mind; and it was a pleasure to listen to it, again. One discussion I remember, held between the Head and a member of the Classics' staff, concerned how one would translate into Latin the opening line of the fifth verse of O God, Our Help in Ages Past (Time, like an ever-rolling stream). I liked the calm and order of the School, and was sorry when the Series ended. When I looked-up Patrick Barr and Pauline Jameson,, I learned that he was twelve-years older than she, and that she had the longer and more-distinguished career. I was surprised, that her Wikipaedia biography made no mention of her radio career. As regards Any Questions, I remember when such characters as Emmanuel Shinwell (endeared by his years), John Arlott, outspoken A.G. Street (splendid contributor), Lady Barnett, Barbara Castle, Sally Oppenheim, Ann Widdecombe, (good ladies of differing views), Enoch Powell, Tony Benn, The Bishop of Crediton (for the time being). I am sure I have missed many whom I ought to have mentioned. Roger
